Shaping the Future of Coastal Investment: The SCRA Blueprint for Sustainable Growth

As capital continues to pour into Diani, Ukunda, and the wider Kwale region, SCRA continues to serve as a civic anchor ensuring rapid growth translates into sustainable, long-term value for residents, developers, and investors alike.

SCRA monitors zoning regulations, building approvals, and environmental setbacks through a comprehensive Schedule of Areas of Concern, pushing for building controls that protect the character and value of the area. Through direct representation on the newly established Diani Municipality Board, SCRA bridges public administration and private investors on urban planning decisions affecting zoning, transport, and utilities.

On the environmental side, SCRA is taking an increasingly structured approach to conservation, partnering with organisations such as A Rocha Kenya on targeted initiatives including the regional Indian house crow control programme. SCRA has also intensified its focus on access road enforcement, ensuring residential and commercial zones remain accessible to emergency vehicles - a driver of both resident safety and short-term rental value.
