Background
Poor visibility of boda bodas (motorcycle taxis) at night was identified as a road safety risk across Diani, Ukunda, Ngombani, Kwale, and Msambweni.
Actions Undertaken
SCRA fitted reflective strips to over 2,000 boda bodas across the area and used the exercise to deliver basic road safety guidance to riders.
Progress Updates
- 1 January 2019Exercise completed; follow-up at the local police station found very few accident-involved boda bodas were fitted with reflective tape, confirming the programme's value.
